We were heading back to Minnesota for Memorial Day weekend. We had so many fun things planned while we were home. Your Grandpa and Grandma Wiebold couldn’t wait to have the chance to have a little alone time with you, and Mommy and Daddy were looking forward to a fun day together. Daddy and I were headed to Northfield where we were going to meet with a realtor that was going to show us potential homes that we could rent while Daddy taught at Carleton. We started by visiting the campus and Daddy showed me where he would be teaching. You and I can go visit Daddy for lunch and have a picnic on the beautiful lawn.

We received a call… The realtor that was suppose to show us a few homes called fifteen minutes before we were to meet and cancelled on us. Ugh! We were so disappointed since this was one of our only chances to see some places before we moved home. We went to step two and called a woman who had found our add on Craigslist about us trying to find a home to rent. Diane was available to show us her home that is located in Faribault, MN. It is about a 25 minute commute to Northfield so we were a little skeptical.

The drive was very beautiful as the home is located in the country… As we pulled into the driveway, your Daddy and I just looked at each other with amazement. It was so peaceful and beautiful… How will we contain our excitement? The couple that is renting out their home is looking for a responsible family to watch over their house while they are away. I think the four of us (Finn included), are the right family for them.

The house was beautiful and it seemed a little too good to be true. Daddy and I needed to think about it since this was a big decision.

Meanwhile, you were enjoying a relaxing day with your Grandparents… It was a good thing that you were resting up since we would be taking you to your first Twins game on Sunday. We were so excited that Grandma and Grandpa Hanson were coming with us also. We parked and rode the train to the new stadium that was sure to be very hot since we were experiencing record heat. Once we found our seats we realized that we would be in the shade and nice and cool. Moments into the game and the crowd went wild… Your bottom lip began to quiver and you were in an all out cry. We didn’t realize that the noise may be a little too much for your little ears. We quickly solved the problem with little baby ear plugs… We enjoyed 6 full innings until it was time to go home. Success!!!

YOU DID IT! You are officially on the move… Even though it isn’t the traditional crawl, you have mastered the worm. You slap both hands, as hard as you can, on the floor and pull yourself forward. The first few days you didn’t go very far but we know in no time you will be all over.

“George, where are you?” Yes, we were right! You crawl at the speed of lightening… We have quickly baby proofed the house and just when we think there isn’t anything you can get into, I find you eating something mysterious off of the floor. We also realize how dirty our carpet is… SInce you don’t get up on your knees, the belly part of your shirt attracts all of the dirt from the floor. Disgusting that our carpets are that dirty! We are having so much fun watching you explore everything around the house.

Mommy recently discovered that you like to play hide and seek with your toys. I was holding a small toy in my left hand and I covered it up. You immediately pulled my hand away and removed the toy from my left hand and placed it in my right, where I did the same thing, and you continued doing this for almost five minutes. Mommy was overjoyed that you could understand what to do. Might be a small achievement but anything you do for the first time is amazing to Mommy and Daddy.

We were beginning to broaden your appetite with foods like pizza, chicken, cous cous, broccoli, etc… One food that you weren’t particularly fond of was pancakes?!? We will work on that!

We were so excited to have a fun family weekend and to celebrate Mommy’s first Mothers Day. Well, technically it was the second one that we celebrated since Daddy made me a nice supper and bought me a gift while I was still pregnant with you. I might have hinted to him that it would be a good idea.

We wanted to go for a picnic as a family, Finn too. We went to Devils Lake that is about forty minutes from where we live. We packed a nice picnic and loaded the car for our little adventure. You took a little snooze on the way to the Lake. We set up for our picnic and you loved being outdoors in the nice breeze. After lunch we took Finn down to the lake where he got to swim with the other dogs. You and Mommy hung out on the shore putting our feet in the water. This was your first time in a lake and the water was so cold, but you loved it! We spent about four hours at the lake and we were all a little tired on the way home. You fell asleep immediately after getting into the car. We had such a fun day!
