We have been waiting for your clogged tear duct in your left eye to resolve itself. However, the doctor didn’t think it was going to on its own. We had scheduled you to go in for day surgery at the Childrens Hospital here in Madison on May 9th. Mommy and Daddy were dreading this day since you would have to go under for this surgery. Mommy had been praying so hard that it would open up and a miracle happened on April 24th. You woke up and your eye was completely dry. It was the first time that Mommy saw your very long eyelashes, since most of the time they were matted together. We waited a few days to make sure it would last and it did. Mommy was happy to make the call and CANCEL SURGERY!

We  were also looking forward to your 9 month check up. I was shocked when I saw your weight. You weighed 19lbs 14.5oz(35.49%), and your height was 29″(71.04%). Even though your weight was still considered small, I was so excited to see you jump in your weight. Of course your little noggin was 47.1 cm(90.34%), we were starting to see your body catch up to that cute little head of yours…

Your Daddy received an email last week letting him know that Carleton will be making their final decisions in the next week. We have been so anxious to find out if we will be moving back to MN or staying in Madison for another year. The wait was so stressful since we wanted to know what our future was going to be.

In the meantime you were growing so much… Your appetite was getting bigger and bigger, and you were also taking really long naps during the day. Sometimes you would sleep up to three hours at a time, even after getting ten hours of sleep throughout the night. You just recently started to clap when Mommy would cheer for you. We clap a lot at the Little Gym and you always get the biggest grin on your face. You haven’t mastered crawling yet, but you were so close to inching yourself around. You would stretch your body as far as it would go, digging your little toes into the carpet. Your frustration was so hard to watch but Mommy and Daddy tried to cheer you on as much as we could without helping you.

HE GOT THE CALL… Daddy had gone out to get dinner for us and when he returned he seemed a little weird. He walked in and shut the door behind him, without making eye contact with Mommy. As he turned around he said, “Well, Carleton called… And I guess we are moving to MN!” Daddy had a huge smile on his face, and Mommy was so proud of him. The long wait was over and we couldn’t wait to tell all of our family… WE ARE MOVING HOME. However, it was a bittersweet moment for us as we really loved Madison and this is where your wonderful life began. Our lives would be wonderful wherever we were, as long as we are together.

Your Grandma and Grandpa Wiebold were coming out to celebrate Daddy’s success. You had a monumental weekend while your Grandparents visited. You not only waved for the first time on your own, it was to a stranger who looked a lot like Grandpa Wiebold.  This gentlemen had a very distinct similarity, a bald shiny head… Oh, and we can’t forget about the incident in the tub as G&G were giving you a bath… You pooped!!! First time in the tub and Mommy wasn’t the one who had to clean it up. Thanks Georgie!

We were all happy to have the surgery behind us and we couldn’t wait for things to go back to normal. Your Nana and Daddy convinced me to go back to MN with Nana and spend time there where I would have plenty of help. Your cousins had spring break that week and they were so excited to see you and help Mommy. Your Uncle Jeremy set up Henry’s old crib at the farm so that you would have a much more comfortable bed to sleep in. The pack-and-play wasn’t your favorite thing compared to your own crib.

We were really working on nursing again! I found these all natural vitamins at Whole Foods that help breast feeding Mommies produce more milk. They seemed to be working since I was able to nurse you at least three times a day. It made Mommy cry because I was so happy to be able to feed you again. I didn’t like the idea of not nursing you anymore since it wasn’t my choice to stop. I was still giving you bottles during the day and we were adding more and more baby food. You loved your prunes, pears, peas, carrots, apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, etc. You are a healthy eater…

Daddy was coming to the farm for the weekend. We missed him so much while we were away. We also got to see Uncle J and Aunt Hilary and of course your favorite little girl, Elouise. You both were so cute together! She often played hard to get, giving you her back most of the time. We were really excited to go into Janesville and see the new house that they purchased. It is only about a half mile from Nana and Grandpa’s. I am sure we will walk to town often to see them. The house is amazing and it made Mommy and Daddy realize that we couldn’t wait to have a home like that for you someday. Mommy even joked and asked Daddy if we could buy the lot next to the Cowdin’s and build;)

This week was such an eventful week for our family. You handled it so well! On top of Mommy having surgery, your Daddy was heading to Minnesota for an interview. He had applied to Carleton College, in Northfield for a temporary Professor position. We were so excited for him to have the opportunity to go to campus for another interview. Unfortunately, your Dad had to leave before Mommy got home from the hospital. We had Nana staying with us so she could help Mommy lift you through out the day. Since I had been on so many pain medications with surgery, I was still unable to nurse you. SInce I had been at the hospital Daddy had to give you formula for the first time. I tried to pump as much as I could at the hospital but because they wouldn’t let Mommy eat anything, I wasn’t getting much milk. You however, were eating like a champ. That made Mommy feel so much better knowing that you were getting enough to eat while I was gone.

Daddy had to be gone for two days and we missed him terribly. The interview went really well and Daddy felt great about the opportunity he may have.
