Mommy had been back to work on the weekends during the month of December. I knew I needed to try it out to see if being away from you would get any easier. Today was New Years Eve and after work Mommy and Daddy were going to take you out to dinner with us. We decided to go to an Italian place called Tutto Pasta. We thought we would be the only ones with our little baby along. You were such a good boy and we loved celebrating the New Year with you. When we returned from dinner you and I decided to head to bed. We couldn’t make it until midnight. Truthfully, mommy never stays up that late anymore. Unless you demand our attention.

We enjoyed the year that we had and we were looking forward to what 2012 was going to bring.

We were heading home for the holidays to celebrate with the Wiebolds. Your Grandma Linda and Grandpa Howie couldn’t wait to see you and give you all of your presents. Thankfully the weather was nice and our drive back to Minnesota was uneventful. Mommy stayed in the backseat with you to help keep you busy so that you wouldn’t get upset. You did a great job! Mommy and Daddy were so happy to celebrate Christmas this year because a year ago we had just found out that we were pregnant with you. We went to the children’s Mass at Redeemer Lutheran where your Grandma Linda has taught for many years. We opened presents when we returned from church and you were excited to see the toys.

Christmas morning is so different when we can wake up to your shrieks and babbling. It was bittersweet to bring you into bed with Daddy and I and reflect on how special these moments were. We were getting ready to have a house full of relatives who couldn’t wait to see you. The Hansons and the Bergstroms were coming over to celebrate Christmas Day with all of us. Your Great Grandma Hanson snuggled with you as soon as she arrived. You immediately fell asleep in her arms. She was on cloud nine and loved being able to get a good look at you.

The drool was poring out of your mouth like buckets. However, on December 2nd your very first tooth popped through. You weren’t too crabby with the pain! Only a couple weeks later and your second bottom tooth joined its partner. Your gummy smile was gone but it was so cool to see these changes.

Where has the time gone??? I understand what everyone is talking about when they say that “life passes by you in a blink.” Thankfully I am able to enjoy every moment with you! Being home with you is the best gift in the world! You had a doctors appointment where you needed to get a few more shots. We have you on an alternative shot schedule, so you don’t need to get as many shots at once. You are still getting the recommended shots before you are one years old, we are just spacing them out for you so that you have less of a chance of reacting to the shots. So far you haven’t had any fevers or fussiness that usually comes with the shots. You now weigh 15lbs 6oz(54.17%) and you have grown to 25.5″(66.40%). You are going through a growth spurt. I also believe you are getting a tooth. You are sleeping 9-10 hours through the night. Such a good boy. We gave you your first dose of Tylenol because one night you just didn’t seem yourself and you were uncomfortable and constantly biting anything you could get your hands on… It helped! You are really getting strong. You are trying to roll over by arching your back and swinging your legs up. You love to sit in your chair and mommy reads to you and plays toys with you. You hold your head up so strongly. We also notice how much you love television. Every time we have you playing on the floor your head turns right to the TV. Mommy went out and bought a DVD that is for babies: Baby Einstein. It is very colorful and full of shapes and animals… you love it!

We were back in Madison and we needed to reintroduce the crib since you had been sleeping in the same room with Mommy and Daddy while in Minnesota. It only took one night and you were back in your room.

We were getting ready for your big weekend ahead. First, your Nana and Auntie Chrissy, and the kids were coming out for our traditional MEA weekend. Every year in October we have a long weekend together and we enjoy going to a pumpkin patch and picking out the best pumpkin and taking a hayride. We had to plan the meal that we were going to have for your upcoming Baptism. We decided to go with the famous Foggia italian pasta and Nana prepared the sauce two days in advance. Nana will teach you her secrets someday because she truly knows the way to make it PERFECT. You enjoyed playing with your cousins and most of all Henry loved holding and kissing you. His favorite name for you was Georgie  Porgie.

On Friday the entire family, including the Wiebold’s, the Adam’s, and the Des Moines families arrived in Madison. We were expecting 30 people here to celebrate you on your Baptism. Since our apartment wouldn’t seat everyone, we rented a space in the club house. We served pasta, salad, and delicious desserts. Auntie Chrissy, your Godmother, came to the apartment before mass to get you dressed in your Baptismal suit. You looked so handsome and grown up in it. Chrissy attached your St. Christopher pin to your undershirt and also put it with a ribbon of Great Nana’s.

We all went to mass together and after the service you were baptized. You were so good the entire time, even through the million pictures that we took. Mommy and Daddy were proud of you and watching you get baptized was really incredible. Shortly after the baptism we all went back to celebrate with our friends and families. Grandma Janet led us in prayer and immediately afterwards we all dug into the feast. You had a full evening with everyone holding and kissing you. I think you loved the attention as you did such a great job. The party lasted until after 10pm and it was way past all of our bedtimes. It was such a blessed evening. On Sunday morning we went to say goodbye to everyone at the hotel. It was so neat to have all sides of the families together to enjoy breakfast before everyone went home.

We really missed Aunt Jen and Uncle Edy, but they were celebrating your baptism in Italy…

We had one more week at the farm and then it was time to go back to Madison. Mommy, Nana, and you went to Liv Aveda, that is where Mommy used to work when she lived in Mankato. Nana and I had pedicures while you met all of the ladies that Mommy used to work with, you were a big hit.

This week you were really holding your head strong and you enjoyed all of the funny faces and noises we would make to entertain you. You were starting to look around when you heard familiar voices. Your giggles were becoming more frequent and it melted Mommy’s heart every time I heard them. We were working on tummy time more and more since you weren’t a big fan of laying that way.

We were getting sad to leave the farm but we were so thankful for all of the time that we were able to spend with our family and friends.

Your first giggles!!! Daddy was playing with you and he was able to get you giggling. It was a true belly laugh that was so awesome to hear that it almost made Mommy cry.

We spent the next week relaxing at the farm, playing with Nana and your cousins. We had three little babies come to visit us at the farm. Mommy’s friends that she went to JWP with, Hilary, Katie, and Brandi had babes within one month of you. Kinlee was born in August, Danny was born in the beginning of September and Elouise was born mid September. It was so fun to have all of you together. We were able to get some great pictures that I’m sure you will all love someday.

The rest of the week Daddy worked on the farm with Grandpa Dave. Daddy was in your Godfather, Adam’s, wedding the first weekend in October. The night before the wedding they had the rehearsal on a boat cruise. It was so relaxing and there was a nice breeze so you and Mommy found a nice spot on the top deck. You snuggled in and fell asleep… While Mommy and Daddy were at the wedding you stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Wiebold. They loved having you all to themselves and of course Mommy missed you terribly. They were able to feed you a bottle and by time Mommy got home you were asleep in Grandma Linda’s arms

We went to watch Matthew play in a football game. It was so windy and cold so Mommy snuggled you under tons of blankets. You stayed so warm and you loved sleeping on my chest. After the game we were heading to the Twin Cities to visit Grandma and Grandpa Wiebold. First, we stopped at Gustavus, where your Daddy went to college. Also, your Mommy and Daddy were married at the Chapel on campus. It was Homecoming weekend and Daddy’s five year college reunion. We were able to introduce you to your Godfather, Adam and his Fiancé, Mary. Mommy had you in the Baby Bjorn so you were pretty cozy and slept through most of the introductions.

Once we arrived at Grandma and Grandpa Wiebolds we had a number of visitors who came to see you, in fact the entire Wiebold side came. Martha and Claudia loved holding you and couldn’t get over how much you looked like your Daddy. You were pretty tired out that evening so you and Mommy went to bed early. Grandma Linda had to go to school the next day so we decided to take you to meet the staff and her class at Redeemer Lutheran. This is the same school that your Daddy went to when he was younger. The teachers and children loved meeting you finally, since Grandma Linda has talked about you so much.

YEAH… We were going to Minnesota for 2 weeks to be with family. We drove two cars because Daddy wanted to fix his. Mommy and you drove in the CRV by ourselves… We stopped half way to MN and Mommy fed you and then you fell right back to sleep until we got to the farm. Nana and Grandpa were so excited to see us. Shortly after we arrived your cousins and Auntie Chrissy came over to snuggle with you. They couldn’t believe how big you were getting already.

The day after we arrived at the farm I took you to visit Hilary and Elouise. It was Mommy’s first time seeing little baby Elouise. She was so beautiful and she seemed to be eating the whole time we were visiting. She was a BIG girl!!! You enjoyed our visit but fell asleep shortly after getting there. Auntie Hilary and Mommy had a chance to talk and we couldn’t believe how much our lives had changed.
