Yes it is true! We had one last Christmas to celebrate with the Wiebolds. We invited everyone over to our place where we had great food, opened great gifts, and Mommy shot a 45! Yes, the Wiebold Christmas wouldn’t be complete without shooting some handguns. Your cousin Brian, and Great Uncle Bruce brought some guns so that we could go next door to the shooting range. We celebrated New Years Eve the best way we could have thought of! We celebrated with you at home… You, of course, were in bed by the time the clock struck midnight. Mommy and Daddy put you to bed, and got dressed up to have a romantic dinner. We toasted to a fabulous year that we had just ended, and an even better year that we were about to begin! The fancy clothes only lasted about an hour, before Mommy was back in her comfy clothes… Happy New Year!

I can’t believe how time has flown. I feel like it was just yesterday that we were celebrating our first Christmas with you! Mommy and Daddy decided to make you an activity table for Christmas. We filled it with all kind of sensory toys that you could play with. Daddy worked hard on measuring and building the table, while Mommy stained it. We can’t wait to use it outside and fill it with sand or water.

We were looking forward to going to Des Moines for Christmas Day! It had been a long time since our family was able to be together and it was your first time celebrating with us. The whole weekend wore us all out, but we were so thrilled to relax with family. Santa was so good to you!!!

Christmas time was rapidly approaching and it was time to introduce you to Santa Claus. We took you on a horse drawn sleigh in Faribault, where we could sing songs and look at the beautiful Christmas lights. When we arrived to go meet Santa there wasn’t a big crowd, which seemed like the perfect place to meet the big guy for the first time. You held on to Mommy’s hand tightly, as you walked slowly towards Santa and Mrs. Claus! It wasn’t until you were placed on Santa’s lap, that the tears began to flow. We snapped a few pictures and I am sure someday you will find a little more humorous!

The long wait was finally over! Auntie Jen and Uncle Edy were coming to the United States to begin their life together. You and Daddy stayed home while I went with Nana and Grandpa to pick them up. It was great to finally have them home! The next day was Thanksgiving, and we were all so thankful that we could be together again.

The entire Des Moines family came up to see Auntie Jen and meet Uncle Edy for the first time! When you grow up you will understand that meeting Uncle Steve for the first time, if you aren’t already in the family, can be a bit intimidating! Edy did great and we had everyone over to our house so Uncle Edy could teach us how to make Gnocchi. Delicious!

It is so nice to have everyone back together again!

Everyday it seems like you are doing something new! Today was a special day because for the first time you took a step! Some babies start walking before they are 1 and some babies wait until they are ready and comfortable. You decided that today was the day you were going to try… We were in the laundry room folding clothes and you decided that you were just going to let go of the cupboard and take that step. I was shocked and tried to keep my excitement quiet… I knew if I made a big deal about it you would get a little nervous. Mommy could tell you were proud of yourself but also a little confused about what you did.

Later that afternoon while taking a drink of milk you decided to use those legs to take 5 steps. Whoa! My baby will be walking in no time…

The day was finally here and Mommy had trained as hard as she could. I couldn’t wait to see you along the way, I knew that would push me to do my best. Around mile 7 I could hear you and the whole “family” cheering loud. Hilary and I were so happy to see everyone. Mile 10 was just up ahead and Mommy was now running alone, when a man watching the race said, “run this mile for someone who can’t…” Wow, what strong words… So mile 10 I ran for Michael Hano, who we all unexpectedly lost this year. During previous races, mile 10 has always been such a difficult time. This time my whole body felt strong, and I ran mile 10 with such ease. Thank you Michael Hano!!! The final song on my playlist was “Stronger,” and how fitting that the last line of the song ended as I approached the roaring finish line. What a GREAT race!

We were all enjoying being closer to family! It has been so nice being able to see them on a regular basis. Matthew and Claire have came to spend the night a few times. You love when they are here! It seems like we have had visitors every weekend since we have been home, so exciting.

We were preparing for the Wiebold families to come to our house for a visit. Most of them haven’t seen you since your baptism. Way too long! It was nice to have everyone together and most of all, you loved seeing all the new faces.

Mommy has been training for her 3rd half marathon since July. It is a little more difficult to find the time to train since our days are full of fun activities for you. Mommy likes to get out and run by herself because it gives me some alone time. Daddy has been very helpful when he gets home to send me out for my runs. I couldn’t wait to have you and Daddy on the side lines cheering me on!

We were also looking forward to having a playdate with Uncle Adam and Mary… They invited us over to their place in the cities. They had just recently adopted a beautiful dog that needed some company. Finn had so much fun playing with Suka! Adam and Mary were glad they got some time to spend with you and you quickly showed them that their house wasn’t baby proofed. Hopefully soon they will have a baby so you can have a buddy to play with!

Today was your first day of school. We found an Early Childhood Family Education class in Faribault that we were going to start attending. Mommy couldn’t wait for you to play with all of the other little kids. When we got to the classroom it was filled with books and toys and pretend kitchens! Your eyes were so bright and full of excitement. It didn’t take you long to leave my side and crawl around with your new friends.

We were both very excited to go to school every week and play with our friends and do art projects while singing songs. It made Mommy very proud to see you playing well with other little kids. Most of them were walking and I could see the wheels turning in your head! Maybe soon you will take your first step…
