Mommy had been back to work on the weekends during the month of December. I knew I needed to try it out to see if being away from you would get any easier. Today was New Years Eve and after work Mommy and Daddy were going to take you out to dinner with us. We decided to go to an Italian place called Tutto Pasta. We thought we would be the only ones with our little baby along. You were such a good boy and we loved celebrating the New Year with you. When we returned from dinner you and I decided to head to bed. We couldn’t make it until midnight. Truthfully, mommy never stays up that late anymore. Unless you demand our attention.

We enjoyed the year that we had and we were looking forward to what 2012 was going to bring.

We were heading home for the holidays to celebrate with the Wiebolds. Your Grandma Linda and Grandpa Howie couldn’t wait to see you and give you all of your presents. Thankfully the weather was nice and our drive back to Minnesota was uneventful. Mommy stayed in the backseat with you to help keep you busy so that you wouldn’t get upset. You did a great job! Mommy and Daddy were so happy to celebrate Christmas this year because a year ago we had just found out that we were pregnant with you. We went to the children’s Mass at Redeemer Lutheran where your Grandma Linda has taught for many years. We opened presents when we returned from church and you were excited to see the toys.

Christmas morning is so different when we can wake up to your shrieks and babbling. It was bittersweet to bring you into bed with Daddy and I and reflect on how special these moments were. We were getting ready to have a house full of relatives who couldn’t wait to see you. The Hansons and the Bergstroms were coming over to celebrate Christmas Day with all of us. Your Great Grandma Hanson snuggled with you as soon as she arrived. You immediately fell asleep in her arms. She was on cloud nine and loved being able to get a good look at you.

The drool was poring out of your mouth like buckets. However, on December 2nd your very first tooth popped through. You weren’t too crabby with the pain! Only a couple weeks later and your second bottom tooth joined its partner. Your gummy smile was gone but it was so cool to see these changes.
