Maybe someday you will follow in your Daddy’s footsteps… On September 19th, 2011 Daddy defended his PhD Thesis. He has been working extremely hard for the past five years. Mommy was so proud of him since the last two months were very difficult balancing spending time with us and working long nights to get his work done. He gave us a lot of love and support even when he was getting little sleep. Mommy was leaving you with your first babysitter, Jenn and Pravin watched you for two hours while I went to watch your Daddy defend. Jenn fed you a bottle and then you fell asleep in Pravin’s arms. He loved holding you and when I came to pick you up, he was still holding you. It was really awesome to see you so peaceful, Pravin loved it…

We had your two month old checkup this week and we were so excited to see how much you had grown. You were really starting to focus on things that caught your eye. Mommy and Daddy have been reading to you and listening to Baby Mozart. You love to listen!!

This past weekend your Grandpa Adams and Janet came out to visit. We stayed home and had pizza as you entertained all of us with your noises. Grandpa and Janet couldn’t believe how easy you would go to sleep. Mommy had been trying to pick up on your schedule the last couple of weeks, and it seemed to be working.

Mommy was going to take her first outing on Sunday night. I was going on a dinner boat cruise with the ladies that I work with. I had not seen some of them since my last day on July 20th. Daddy was home with you for a few hours and he was able to feed you a bottle that Mommy pumped. He did a great job sending me pictures of you. You were sleeping when I came home!

Craniosacral Therapy

Mommy decided to take you to a Craniosacral Therapist who specializes in light heated massage. I brought you there because you had gas and it seemed like you were struggling getting it out. When I laid you on the massage table she placed her hands on your forehead and just by a brief touch she was able to feel tension on your left side. She spent about 45 minutes massaging you and releasing tension that you had from birth. The left side of your face was very bruised when you were born because of the forceps. She thought you may have been suffering from headaches also. Mommy took you to her twice and I could see a major difference in your mood. I know I am going to keep up with massaging you since you looked so peaceful and relaxed.

You were starting to talk more, making coos and some mild shrieking. It was so fun to see you start to respond to us…

7 Weeks Old

Your Nana just can’t get enough of you so her and Grandpa are coming to visit for the weekend. We went out to eat, enjoyed the farmers market, and of course had some delicious meals made by your Nana. Your Daddy even took Nana and Grandpa to get iPhones. They were so excited to have the new phones and Nana had to get a picture on her phone of you, right away…

The Dreaded Transition

Your Auntie Stephanie was coming to visit from Chicago. We were excited to introduce you to her. You were a big hit and she was able to snuggle with you and kiss you the whole day. Once Stephanie went home we had a nice week ahead to just relax and snuggle with you.

We have been working on tummy time, something that you don’t like too much. We also moved you into your room and you are sleeping in your crib instead of your bassinet. It was hard on Mommy the first night you weren’t right by her bedside. Your room is only about 15 steps from ours but you felt like you were so far away. After a few nights I got used to it and you were sleeping well in your crib.

2 Month Well Child Checkup

Shots, Shots, Shots… You are sure growing and changing right before our eyes. You weigh 12lbs 5.5oz(67.66%), and measure 23.25″(65.08%). We have made such progress with your eating and you are showing it on the scale. We also notice how much your head is growing at 41 cm (76.16%), the doctor says that you are making room for the size of your brain. You are going to be a smart boy at this rate… You received a few shots today that actually weren’t so bad. You only cried briefly and then I was able to nurse you and that made everything better. As long as you stay healthy we won’t need to come back to the doctor until your 4 month checkup. It is scary how time is flying. I guess you could say we are having so much fun and we are soaking up this feeling we have towards you.

Meeting Aunt Hilary and Uncle Jason

We were preparing for yet another round of visitors. Your Nana and cousins were coming out to visit again. Also, Auntie Hilary and Uncle Jason were on their way. It was so nice to see Hilary as she was still pregnant with Elouise. She kept saying how jealous she was that I was done being pregnant. She was nearing the end and was starting to get uncomfortable.

Nana, Matthew, and Claire were so excited to hold you. Claire adores you and was such a good mommy. She was always laying next to you, talking to you and making sure you were happy. We were getting ready to have a garage sale for your Auntie Jen as she was moving back to Italy to continue studying Photography. She was also in LOVE and couldn’t wait to see Edy again. You loved being outdoors at the sale, it was sunny and warm and it was good for us to get some fresh air.

Sleep deprived

You were really starting to change. You were smiling in your sleep so much. Nana would say “you were dreaming of the angels.” You were still waking up every 4 hrs to eat. Mommy often felt like a Zombie. Your Daddy was great at helping as he often changed your diaper and made mommy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for those late night feedings. Because you were still sleeping in our room I often heard every little noise you would make. You were a noisy sleeper but somehow your Daddy could sleep right through it all.

I was starting to put you in your crib for your naps during the day. You didn’t like it at first because you were used to being snuggled in your bassinet. We kept trying and trying and the more we did it the better you would sleep. I bought the book “The 90 minute sleep cycle.” It helped Mommy understand your signals as to when you were getting sleepy. I was also preparing myself for when I would have you start sleeping in your own room. I was going to attempt to try when you were six weeks old.

Meeting Great Grandma and Grandpa Hanson

Your Grandma Linda and Grandpa Howie Wiebold came to Madison for another visit and this time they brought your Great Grandparents (Hanson) to meet you for the very first time. The second your Great Grandma saw you she cried with tears of joy. They were so proud of you and they often take photos to church to show all of their friends.

We had to bring you in for another weight check to see if you were gaining the proper weight. We were waking you up every 2-3 hours to feed you, even through the night. Once you were above your birth weight we were able to stop doing that. You did it!!! You were healthy as can be and we were looking forward to not waking a sleeping baby.

Our new life

We were starting to get used to having you home with us and it was time for Nana to go back to Minnesota. We were all a little sad to see her go. Grandpa Adams came back out for the afternoon to see you and cuddle. He held you the entire time… That evening we took you on your first outing, to church. It was so nice having you with us as our prayers had been answered. Our beautiful baby boy was with us now, and we were so grateful. Since you were 12 days early, mommy decided to go to the salon and have a pedicure on the “official” due date. You came with me so you could meet all of the ladies I work with. They adored you and of course you slept throughout the entire outing. Your Auntie Jen was still in Italy studying, but on August 4th she flew home to see you. It was a bitter sweet moment when we picked her up at the bus stop. She stayed with us for a week and adored you every second.

Bili Blanket

Because you were a little jaundice we needed to wrap you in a Bili Blanket. You didn’t mind it at all since it was very warm. We called you our glowing Angel. After about a week you were able to get rid of the blanket since your levels were right in the range that they needed to be. You were gaining tons of weight, even though your weight was measured in ounces, it was great to see you grow.

You had your two week check up and we were so proud to see you inching your way back to your birth weight. You weighed in at 7lbs 4oz(14.04%), and you grew from 19 inches to 20.5″(45.81%)! Even though you were still considered a little peanut, we couldn’t be more proud of you…
