Once we brought you home life was SO PERFECT! Your Mommy couldn’t sleep because she just wanted to keep her eyes on you. You were a good sleeper!!! You slept in a bassinet next to our bed every night. Mommy even had you next to her when she took a nap. Your Nana stayed with us the first week. We loved having her here taking good care of all of us. She cooked, cleaned, and held you all the time. She was so supportive even during those middle of the night feedings. One particular night Mommy and Daddy were having trouble feeding you and I of course broke down. Nana was right there to reassure us that you were going to be just fine. She would say, “just talk to him, and let him hear your voice.” Those words were the best advice. You were just trying to get accustomed to your new world and everything was so new. We wanted Nana to move in with us, well at least you and I. We had a lot of appointments for you since you had lost a little weight before leaving the hospital. We went to see a woman named Joan, a lactation specialist, who was like an Angel to me. As soon as we sat down with her and explained what was happening she immediately threw her hands up and said, “You just aren’t latching him right!” Because she made it sound so simple, I gained all of my confidence back and with that she taught us how to do it. When I say us, I mean both Daddy and I. We worked great as a team doing something that neither of us thought a few years ago, we would be doing. After a few solid days of trying at home, you were eating like a pro. It was a great feeling to know that I was able to give you everything you needed.
